The Latest from WesCeleb Kennedy Odede ’12

kennedy forbesHave you heard the news? This week, Kennedy Odede ’12 — SHOFCO co-founder, 2009 Davis Projects for Peace grant recipient, 2010 Echoing Green Fellow, 2010 Dell Social Innovation Competition winner, Clinton Global Initiative partner, 2012 Wesleyan Commencement speaker, Patricelli Center Advisory Board member, and (perhaps most importantly!) one half of the Jessica-Kennedy dream team — was named a 2014 Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur and published this op-ed in the New York Times.

In his Times piece, Kennedy argues that “given the link between urban poverty and terrorism, the best strategy is to fight poverty, not terrorism…The war on terror can be won only through education, promise and real opportunities.”

All of us at Wesleyan’s Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship and Center for Community Partnerships commend and congratulate Kennedy and the SHOFCO team for their tireless commitment to social impact and a better world.
