bridgeinternationalacademiesCurriculum Writing Fellowship, Bridge International Academies: Bridge International Academies is transforming education by attacking one of the emerging world’s biggest problems: inadequate access to and quality of education for the children of families living on less than $2/day. As of January 2014, Bridge is operating 259 academies in Kenya with more than 80,000 pupils and has aggressive global expansion planned for 2014 and beyond. Bridge utilizes a research-proven, scripted-learning education methodology coupled with big data (all teachers have tablets for instruction, assessment, and data-gathering) to profitably deliver high quality education at less than $6 per child per month.We have a small Boston office with expert curriculum directors in math, science, English, Swahili, history, and pre-K. They need help. Curriculum Writing Fellows use model lesson scripts (developed by experts) to draft new lessons for Kenyan teachers. Over the past three decades these documentaries have won over 150 awards including Peabody, Emmy, and duPont-Columbia awards, as well as two Academy Award nominations. We are seeking two college graduates to fill two full-time internship positions from May 27 through August 29. Applicants must have strong organizational and writing skills and be able to take initiative and work independently. I am the Civic Engagement Fellow for 2013-2014. While a student at Wesleyan I double majored in Psychology and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and completed a joint thesis during my senior year. I am interested in issues of social justice, mental health, media, and global welfare.
