It’s pre-registration time once again! As you plan your schedule for the Fall, take a look at the Service-Learning Center, which offers courses that integrate community service into an academic curriculum. The service component can take many forms depending on the particular course, such as volunteer work, research for organizations, teaching opportunities, and community organizing activities. Back in the classroom, students use the course content as a guide for reflecting on their experiences in the community. What results is a deeper understanding of theoretical approaches among students and a host of benefits for our local partners and neighbors.
Service-learning courses are offered in a wide range of disciplines, so peruse your options and you’re bound to find a course that’s right for you.
